Never did I imagine that a crisp November morning in Denver would lead me to the vibrant city of Kunming, Yunnan Province, China. As a representative of Denver Sister Cities, I was fortunate enough to attend the China International Friendship Cities Conference 2024, which takes place every two years.
A World of Connections
The conference, themed "Common Prosperity, Shared Future," brought together delegates from over 40 countries and over 700 attendees. It was an incredible opportunity to meet people from diverse cultures, share experiences, and forge new friendships. The energy in the room was palpable as we discussed topics ranging from sustainable development to cultural exchange.
Exploring Kunming's Charms
Beyond the conference halls, I had the chance to immerse myself in Kunming's rich history and stunning natural beauty. From the serene Dianchi Lake to the vibrant Flower Market, the city offered a feast for the senses. I was particularly fascinated by the ancient tea culture and the intricate stone carvings that adorn the city's temples.
