On a crisp and sunny day, Denver Sister Cities International had the pleasure of hosting 20 Denver Public Schools (DPS) high school students and their teachers as part of the DPS Xplore Program. This unique session, which focused on careers in international affairs, was a shining example of how Denver is cultivating a globally-minded generation.
The day kicked off with inspiring presentations from the World Trade Center Denver and Denver Sister Cities. The students learned about the critical role that international collaboration plays in shaping economies, fostering cultural exchange, and creating diplomatic ties. It was an engaging and transformative experience for all involved, with many students leaving the session with a newfound interest in pursuing careers that connect Denver to the world.
A Review of the Day
A key participant and educator at the event, shared his thoughts:
“Thank you so much for the wonderful event today. The students were fantastic and thoroughly engaged in your programming. Your insights into how government affairs work and the importance of networking in the Sister Cities program were incredibly valuable. Knowing what we know now is truly inspiring, and I believe we have some students who will be interested in applying for the Denver Young Ambassador Program, especially since it aligns perfectly with Denver Public Schools' spring break schedule.”
One of the session’s standout moments was the explanation of Denver Sister Cities as the "front door" to connecting with other countries and regions. Students were particularly excited about the prospect of exploring Denver’s parks dedicated to each Sister City—a tangible way to bring international connections closer to home.
A Collaborative Spirit
The visit demonstrated the power of partnerships between Denver organizations. Thank you to the students and teachers who attended. We’re inspired by your enthusiasm and can’t wait to see some of you as Denver Young Ambassadors in the near future. Denver’s students are increasingly equipped to think globally while acting locally.
