On Thursday, January 23rd, Denver Sister Cities International visited Abraham Lincoln High School, introducing the Denver Young Ambassador Program to a group of 35 engaged students. The event provided an exciting opportunity for students to learn about global connections, civic leadership, and the unique relationships Denver shares with its ten sister cities around the world.

A Passion for Global Engagement
The students brought energy and curiosity to the discussion, asking thoughtful questions and expressing genuine interest in the possibility of representing Denver abroad. Many were eager to explore what it means to be an ambassador—not just for their city, but for themselves as young leaders stepping into a broader global community.
Denver Sister Cities representatives shared insights about the importance of international relationships, cultural exchange, and the skills students can develop through this immersive experience. It was clear from the students’ enthusiasm that they are ready to take on the challenge of becoming young ambassadors for Denver.

A Life-Changing Opportunity for Students
The Denver Young Ambassador Program offers high school students, ages 14–18, the chance to participate in cultural exchanges with Denver’s sister cities. Through these exchanges, students gain firsthand experience in international relations and leadership development. For many, it’s an opportunity to step outside their comfort zones, experience new cultures, and make lifelong connections.
This year, students will have the opportunity to travel to one of three sister cities:
- Brest, France: March 21 – April 2
- Takayama, Japan: June 5 – June 16
- Potenza, Italy: July 14 – July 28

Next Steps: How to Get Involved
With applications open until February 14th, students at Abraham Lincoln High School are encouraged to consider this unique opportunity. The response from the learning session showed just how motivated and passionate they are about stepping into leadership roles and engaging with the world beyond Denver.
