The much-anticipated Denver Sister Cities trip to Japan has officially kicked off! From November 3 to November 14, 2024, our delegation will embark on a journey that combines the beauty of Japanese landscapes with rich cultural experiences. Organized by the Denver Takayama Sister City Citizen Delegation, this trip goes beyond the surface, offering participants an authentic taste of Japan’s hospitality and the warmth of the community bonds shared between Denver and Takayama.
During this immersive adventure, our delegation will explore vibrant Tokyo, travel to our beloved sister city Takayama, and continue onward to the historic city of Kanazawa. Each destination brings a unique perspective on Japan's diverse culture, from the bustling metropolis of Tokyo to the traditional charm of Takayama and the artistic heritage of Kanazawa. Delegates will have the opportunity to visit historic landmarks, experience traditional tea ceremonies, and enjoy the picturesque fall colors that frame Japan’s iconic landscapes.
Our time in Takayama, Denver’s cherished sister city, highlights the incredible spirit of omotenashi, the Japanese art of hospitality. Delegates will be welcomed with open arms by the local community and have a chance to meet with families, local leaders, and Takayama committee members who have prepared a variety of activities to deepen the bond between our cities.
Follow along as we share updates, photos, and stories from Colors of Japan 2024. Through these interactions, our delegates will forge lasting friendships, experience the essence of Japanese tradition, and strengthen the bridge of cultural understanding between Denver and Japan. Stay tuned for our updates and highlights from this unforgettable journey!
