This memorable luncheon featured a captivating performance by the renowned Mexican singer Gabriela de la Paz from Cuernavaca, whose voice transported the audience to her hometown. With over 40 years of artistic career, Gabriela de la Paz is a highly respected figure in the world of Mexican music. She has dedicated her life to the promotion and celebration of Mexican and Latin American music, working to spread the cultural richness of her homeland beyond its borders. Gabriela has performed extensively across the globe, offering recitals at intercultural congresses and universities in the United States, Europe, and Asia, sharing the beauty of traditional Mexican songs with diverse audiences.

Gabriela’s powerful voice and deep passion for her heritage shine through in every performance. By gathering the most beautiful and traditional Mexican and Latin American songs, she offers a unique opportunity for listeners to connect with the cultural heart of Mexico.

Attendees, including Ricardo Ballesteros, Consul of Mexico in Denver, and Susy Osorio Kinsky, Chair of the Cuernavaca Committee, shared about the recent impactful initiatives undertaken by the Denver Sister Cities Cuernavaca Committee. These efforts included a citizen delegation to Cuernavaca that planted trees, hosted a sports tournament at Parque Denver, and partnered with the Lions Clubs to provide eyeglasses to over 600 individuals. These accomplishments were made possible through over 700 volunteer hours, highlighting the dedication and commitment of the committee. Fernando Pineda-Reyes, Board Member of Denver Sister Cities International, also shared insights into these projects, emphasizing the transformative impact of these exchanges on the community in Cuernavaca and Denver.

The celebrations didn’t end at the luncheon! That evening, a free performance featuring Gabriela de la Paz was held at Convivio Café, supported by Americas for Conservation + the Arts and CREA Results, in partnership with Convivio Café and Denver Sister Cities. This special evening performance brought the magic of Gabriela’s voice to an even broader audience, continuing the celebration of the Cuernavaca-Denver connection and fostering even more meaningful cultural exchange.
