Yesterday evening's Tarik Time, sponsored by the Tigray Community of Colorado, was a truly remarkable celebration of the founders of the Denver-Axum Sister Cities partnership. The evening was hosted at Blair-Caldwell African American Research Library was filled with history, storytelling, and appreciation for a connection that has flourished for three decades.
With around 70 attendees, including a wonderful number of children and young people, the event had an atmosphere of community and intergenerational learning. Millete, Executive Director of Tigray Community Colorado, as always, was an outstanding moderator, guiding the evening with warmth and insight.

Honoring the Founders
Two key figures in the founding of this partnership, Mayor Wellington Webb and DSCI Member Tsegaye Hailu, captivated the audience with stories of the early days. From the memorable 1995 trip to Axum, where townspeople lined the streets from the airport to the town center, to the life-changing water projects that shaped communities, the night was a powerful reflection on the impact of global friendship.
A special highlight was a video greeting from the Axum Denver committee, filmed in front of the Denver Street sign in Axum, sending heartfelt congratulations on the 30th anniversary.
