The Denver Sister Cities International Kunming Committee hosted an unforgettable 2025 Chinese New Year Banquet, and what a night it was! With a sold-out crowd, incredible performances, and a feast fit for royalty, this celebration of the Year of the Snake brought together culture, community, and connection in the most spectacular way.
A Full House and a Joyous Atmosphere
From the moment guests arrived at Empress Seafood Restaurant, the excitement was palpable. The evening began with a vibrant social hour, where attendees enjoyed a cash bar, mingled with old and new friends, and took part in a silent auction featuring an incredible array of items in support of global cultural exchange. A true highlight was the Master Calligrapher, who created personalized name art and meaningful Chinese symbols for attendees to take home as keepsakes.
Honoring the Year of the Snake
A special part of the evening was dedicated to honoring those born in the Year of the Snake, recognizing their wisdom, intuition, and charm—traits that made the night even more special. The energy in the room was electric as the celebration kicked off.
A Feast and Performances to Remember
At 5:30 PM, the room erupted in excitement as the Lion Dance and a thrilling martial arts demonstration signaled the start of the night’s program. Then, guests indulged in a 10-course banquet, a culinary experience that highlighted the richness of Chinese flavors and traditions.

A truly special moment came when members of the Denver Young Ambassadors Program took the stage to share their reflections on cultural exchange and leadership. Their words served as a reminder of the importance of global connections and the next generation’s role in fostering peace and understanding between communities.
